Java is a programming language
designed to be a cross-platform system that would allow a program to
be run on different computer platforms including Windows and Mac's
and all the popular web browsers.
Some features of our website
use Java, including the Drop-it game. Internet Explorer, AOL and
Netscape browsers all support Java but these capabilities may need
to be enabled through adjustments to the browser.
Here are some tips for how to check your
browser to make sure Java is enabled for you browser and other
things to do if you are having trouble seeing the Java features of
our site.
First of all whatever browser you are using,
make sure you have the latest version.
*indicates the minimum version that is
required to run our Java games and website features.
Next check to make sure that your browser's
support for Java is enabled:
(A) INTERNET EXPLORER
Version 3.02 and up is Java capable. Version 3.02 : 1. Click
on "View" (inside explorer on toolbar) 2. Click on "Options" 3.
Click on "Security" Tab 4. Click
on "Enable Java Programs" (at bottom of tab)
Version 4.0 or 5.0: 1. Click on "View" 2. Click
on "Internet Options..." 3. Click
on "Advanced" Tab 4. Scroll down
to Java VM 5. Make sure "JIT Compiler
for Virtual Machine Enabled" is checked 6. Restart Explorer
(B) AOL Only the
32bit version has full Java capabilities. To see which version you have click HELP at the top of the
screen and click "About AOL" If it says "AOL 3.0 For
Windows" or "AOL 4.0 For Windows" you have full Java
capabilities. 1. Click Members or MY AOL
(at the top of the screen) 2. Click
PREFERENCES 3. Click WWW icon 4. Click Advanced tab and select "Enable
Java JIT Compiler" 5. Click the
Security tab and select "Enable Java Program" 6. Click apply 7.
Click OK
(C) NETSCAPE Netscape 3.02 and up is Java Capable Netscape Navigator 3.02 1. Click
"Options" (on tool bar) 2. Click
"Network Preferences" 3. Click
"Languages Tab" 4. Click
"Enable Java"
5. Click
"Enable Java Script, Click "OK"
Netscape Navigator 4.0 (includes
Communicator) 1. Click "EDIT" on
tool bar 2. Click "Preferences" 3. Click "Advance" 4. Click to turn on the first 5 items.
