General Tournament Rules
There are currently 3 different
styles of tournament at TournamentGames.Com. Each style
requires a slightly different strategy to be successful, so it is important that you understand
the differences between them. The tournament styles differ mainly in how they end.
The tournament styles apply to all games at tournamentgames.com, though they may
not all be in use at one time for a given game.
- LIMITED ENTRY TOURNAMENT - This style of tournament is very similar to the normal
tournament. When the tournament ends all open enrties are given ample time to post their scores, but there
is no pre-determined end time. Instead, each tournament has an entry limit. When that limit is reached the
tournament is closed. For example, a tournament marked as ending at 36 entries will close as soon as the 36th
game is started. No new entries are allowed in the tournament but all open entries are allowed to complete in
a reasonable time.
- TIMED TOURNAMENT- This style of tournament is the simplest.
The Timed tournament ends at a pre-determined date and time. When the
tournament ends no new entries are allowed on that tournament.
Outstanding entries are given a reasonable time to report their score.
The player with the highest score after the tournament has ended and all
oustanding entries have reported (or expired) is the winner. All
tournament times are US Central Standard Time.
- SPRINT TOURNAMENT- This style of tournament does not have a pre-determined
ending time or number of entries. Each sprint tournament has a target score or target level that must be reached to win.
The first player
to reach that target wins the tournament and the tournament ends.
Any outstanding entries are rejected immediately. This is different from
the other tournaments where each player is allowed to post their score
within a reasonable period of time. Because of the nature of this style
of tournament, it is often advantageous to quit a game as soon as you
have reached the target rather than continuing to play for a higher score or level.
Stalled Tournament Policy
We consider a Tournament "STALLED" if it has not received any entries
during the past 7 days. This happens if we develop a tournament that
players do not like or if a player gets a very high score that no one
thinks they can beat.
We check for stalled tournaments, and we may close any tournament
that is STALLED early. If it is a limited entry tournament we will Pro-rate
the jackpot. For example if a limited entry tournament has 50% of the
required entries filled we will pay 50% of the jackpot. If its a SPRINT
or a TIMED tournament we will refund all entry fees.
When we close a stalled tournament, we look at the history of that
tournament. If the history of that tournament indicates that it is
not popular or has recently become not popular that tournament will be
removed permanently from our site. If it appears that it stalled because
of an unusually high score that tournament will remain.
