Solidroid is basically played like traditional solitaire. The object of the game is to get all the cards into the “ace piles,” on the bottom of the screen. This is done by moving an ace into these piles first, then the next higher suit (play an ace of hearts, two of hearts, etc). This must be done with every card and suit in the game to win! Move face-up cards to their next highest value, of opposite suit, in a column. For example: If you were just dealt a black 6, you would move it up to the red 7 in your column. Do this to reveal more cards! If you don’t have any available moves, deal cards from the deck to open up more moves. Just be careful you don’t cover up a useful card!
On the top of the screen, you will see 7 face-up cards, with more hidden underneath 6 of these 7. These are called columns. There will be more cards underneath as you move further right. The deck is in the bottom-left corner, from where the remaining cards are dealt. To the right of the deck are your SuperStax; these are where your cards are dealt. You may have several SuperStax, depending on your tournament To the right of your SuperStax, you MAY have PlayLater piles. These are where you can store a card for later use. In the bottom-right corner of the screen, you MAY have a WildThang! Use this on any column or ace tray to automatically add the next card in the sequence.
All items on the screen are moved by the touch of your finger, or the click of the mouse depending on what device you are playing on; select the card you want to move, then choose its destination.
Solidroid contains unique features, found nowhere else. These alter gameplay, and make Solidroid almost as much of a strategy game, as a skill game. Some examples are listed below:
When cards are dealt from the deck to play, they are dealt out to the SuperStax, in the order of whichever has the fewest amount of cards. A small arrow will be at the top of the SuperStax that will be getting the next card.
Using this feature can change the whole outcome of your game. If you miss a move, move the last dealt card into an available PlayLater stack to complete the missed move. You can also begin moving cards to the PlayLater trays when you have reached the end of your deal cards, and are no longer able to make moves. This may possibly give you more play options, and extend your game.
Playing this card takes careful planning, but don't take too long if you are using it as your last move. If you do, and the timer runs out, you will miss the chance to use it. However, you get points for not using it. You can play this card in place of any unplayed card in the game. Try to make the play in a place that will open you up for even more moves, enabling you to continue farther into the game!
This feature allows you to play a solveable solitaire deck. While you may not bust it 100% of the time, if you play your cards right, you can bust it. You still need to play as fast as you can, because the other players may bust the deck as well, and the competition will be tight!
Some tournaments have the Re Deal feature available. For a few seconds at the beginning of the game, the Redeal will be displayed in the center of the screen. If you are not happy with the deal of the cards, press Re Deal to get a fresh set of cards.
If a tournament you are playing is listed as Same Deck, then all the players entering that tournament will have the same deal of cards. Competition will be strong on these tournaments, so play as fast and smart as you can! If the tournament is listed as Diff Decks then it is possible that each deal given during that tournament is completely different.
Use the Panic button to gain extra time when you need it most. After pressing Panic, the timer will turn Yellow, and will continue running down but the game will not end, or a new card will not automatically deal. The next cycle of the timer will continue as normal.
Above each of the King Trays on the top of the game, you will see a light that can be either gray, red, green, or yellow. When you see this color: Gray: There are no cards in the column. Green: The cards in that column can be moved. Red: A king is at the top of this column. No other moves should be made from this column. Yellow: The Kilroy feature is active on this column. Kilroy won’t stay for long, so move a card onto his stack to receive a bonus.
Move cards into the Aces Tray in ascending order. For example, if you have an Ace of Hearts, you would place it into the Ace Tray, then the Two of Hearts, etc. Move all cards into these columns to bust the deck!
The overall goal is to get a high skill ranking. This is accomplished by finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in a tournament. 100 points is awarded for 1st place, 25 points for 2nd, and 10 points for 3rd place. The ranking is determined by the number of points awarded divided by the number of entries.
If a player has 25 entries and has won 1 tournament (100 points), and placed 2nd 3 times (75 points), as well as 3rd place 7 times (70 points),then their skill rank would be 9.80. In other words, 245 total points divided by 25 entries.
The leading skill ranks are always displayed on the Game home page and are updated in real time. A competition or contest will be held periodically with the goal of obtaining the best Skill Rank for a certain period of time. A countdown timer will be displayed on the game page illustrating when the current SKILL RANK contest will end.
For example 2:46:46 would indicate the current contest will end in 2 hours, 46 minutes and 46 seconds. When the timer gets to zero the current contest ends, the skill rank leaders are recorded. The contest timer is reset, all tournaments are reset, and all player skill ranks are reset to zero and a new contest begins.
When playing SoliDroid, you will need to be efficient in every way. Practice, learn the rules and try to hone your skills. If on a mobile device, try using both hands to maximize your speed. After selecting your tournament of choice and clicking Play, your game will start.
Scroll the list of tournaments until the one you want to play is in the center. Click the Play button, and that's it!. In Solidroid, you are in a race against the clock. So is everyone else! When you play faster, you make more points per move.
Once the game starts, study any possible moves that you have available. If you can, move any aces to the Ace Tray at the bottom. To move the cards, tap the one you want to move, then the column you want to move it to. If there are no playable cards in your SuperStax or PlayLater stacks, you can tap the deal tray on the lower left-hand corner to reveal your next card.
When you complete your game, your score is posted to the Solidroid servers, and your ranking is determined based on the other scores that have been posted. If you are the top of the list, you will see on your standings page, which is displayed at the end of each game you complete. If you have the top score when the tournament is complete, you win!
A player's skill rank is calculated by dividing the number of tournaments won, by the number of tournament entries. If a player has won 1 tournament, and has 8 tournament entries then their rank l would be 1 / 8, or 12.5%. This is displayed in the Rankings page as 12.5.
We display All-Time Rankings, and Current Rankings. The All-Time ranking considers all games played, while the Current Ranking is reset periodically. The Current Ranking is reset to facilitate contests in the future, as we plan to offer prizes for Rank Leaders.
We will have Monthly, Weekly, Daily or Hourly High Rank contests. The All Time ranking only considers Current players. In other words if a player has not played in the past 7 days, their Ranking is not displayed.
